Join us for breakfast at the Engineering Employers network event and find out more about how your business can work with Leeds City College and the School of Engineering.

Hear about the range of support available to help develop your talent pipeline and workforce skills for the engineering sector . Find out about our role in apprentice training and recruitment, about the role employers in providing industry placements for our T Level Engineering students. You will also have the opportunity to meet college staff who teach in the School of Engineering and how you can help shape the curriculum to meet your business needs.

We are also delighted to be joined by Next Gen Makers, an organisation working with manufacturing employers’ organisation Make UK to provide quality assurance and kitemark accreditation for companies running engineering apprenticeship schemes.

In the new year, Next Gen Makers will be launching a new ‘excellent employers’ directory to showcase the best employers in the West Yorkshire region for engineering apprenticeships and provide a platform for employers to attract the next generation of talent.

Join Leeds Manufacturing Festival for this employer-focussed workshop hosted by Leeds City College, offering manufacturing employers the opportunity to help shape the curriculum and qualifications currently being delivered by the college’s School of Engineering.

Mitch Scott, Head of the School of Engineering, will outline changes to funding and their implications for the future of skills delivery, training provision and qualifications when the college’s new academic year commences in September. She will also explain how employers can help shape course design and delivery by advising on course content, helping to develop projects for students, shaping and delivering classroom learning.

Mark Casci, head of business representation at West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce will outline the findings from recent surveys and engagement with employers, undertaken as part work to develop a Local Skills Improvement Plan for West and North Yorkshire.

They will be joined by Dawn Huntrod, regional director of manufacturing employers’ organisation Make UK, who will provide an overview of how manufacturers across the region are responding to the challenges of recruitment, skills and succession planning to secure the skills they need for the future for their businesses.
